The BRU Masterclass Series Episode #1: The Morning Ritual – Precision Pour-Over
Pour-over coffee isn't just caffeine delivery; it’s a mindfulness practice. Traditional pour-over requires fragile glass cones, bulky carafes, and paper filters that absorb rich essential oils. By leveraging the BRU’s patented 4-position brew-through lid, your travel mug instantly becomes an artisanal dripper—preserving every delicate floral and fruity note inside the ceramic-coated interior.

The Recipe & Specs

  • Coffee Dose: 16g light-to-medium roast (~3 Tbsp)

  • Grind Size: Medium-Coarse (resembling coarse sea salt)

  • Water Volume: 12 oz / 350 ml (or up to 16 oz for a lighter body)

  • Water Temp: 194–203°F / 90–95°C

  • Target Time: 3-4 mins

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Set Up: Attach the Cone Mesh Filter directly onto the lid set to the Fill/Brew position.

  2. Add Coffee: Add 16g (3 Tbsp) of medium-coarse ground coffee into the filter.

  3. Begin the Bloom: Pour hot water in a steady spiral until the grounds are fully saturated (about ¾ full).

  4. Pause: Let the coffee bloom for 45 seconds to release trapped carbon dioxide and unlock sweetness.

  5. Final Pour: Continue pouring in slow, steady concentric spirals until your desired volume is reached.

  6. Remove Filter: Lift off the Cone Mesh Filter and discard or compost the spent grounds.

  7. Close & Go: Rotate the lid into the Close position to lock in heat and eliminate spills.

  8. Enjoy: Freshly brewed, barista-grade coffee. Anywhere.
